At Southern Cross Catholic College Burwood (SCCC), the pastoral care of the students is integral to all aspects of college life. The pastoral care and wellbeing of students is managed and overseen by a team consisting of members from our leadership, learning support, external welfare specialists and our school counsellor.
This team acts as the primary means of reflection on, direction, leadership and support for student wellbeing, engagement, assistance and transition at Southern Cross. In addition, the single most important relationship between a student and a significant adult is embodied in the Student Success Project (SSP). This consists of a multi-level grouping of students with a Student Success Leader (SSL) for each student’s entire time at the college. The SSP will provide each student with a caring adult to monitor his/her progress, wellbeing and development.
Each student will have a range of support resources available to help them succeed throughout their time at the college. Diverse learning facilitators, trade training and career pathways specialists and enterprises will inject themselves into learning programs to enhance the learning experience for students.
