The Innovation and Enterprise facilities are purpose built to industry standards and form a unique part of the applied learning for students undertaking specialist courses as part of their chosen career pathways.
Commercial Kitchen
Work alongside specialist facilitators and qualified chefs in our purpose-built commercial and pastry kitchens. Students develop skills and knowledge from a variety of blended learning and practical experiences through Kassala Training Restaurant and Catering, student run Cafe 83 and special events.
Restaurant and Cafe
The combination of a commercial kitchen, training restaurant and cafe within a learning space provides an environment where students have access to real life opportunities. Students are encouraged to engage in actual work activities aligned to course competencies and employability skills.
Salons
The Hair and Beauty salons are built to industry specific standards allowing students to focus on providing client services within their chosen industry. In the Hair Salon, students are taught how to apply colour, foils, treatments and blow dry while our Beauty Salon allows students to learn about manicures, mini-facials, day make-up as well as eyebrow and eyelash tints.
Trade Workshops
Our workshops are built to industry standards to support courses in construction, furnishing and automotive services. These workshops allow students to obtain hands on experience working on a variety of practical and customised projects from prototypes to final product. Fixed equipment includes vehicle hoist and engine service equipment, a fixed table saw for all wood cuts, a band saw, router and spray painting booth as well as full scale timber stud walls, window frames, doors and roofing frames.
O’Grady Centre
The O’Grady Centre supports our Creative and Performing Arts programs (CaPA) for drama, dance and music as well creative industry courses. The centre boasts a state-of-the-art Auditorium, Recording Studio and video/photographic studio (Green Screen Room) along with specialist Music and practice rooms. Students are provided with opportunities to perform, as well as working on conferences, theatrical and musical productions, live-stream events and recordings.
Community Services
The health room includes a full body life like medical dummy allowing students realistic hands-on experience, while also equipped with hospital beds, manual handling equipment and consumables as found in the health industry and aged care facilities. The childcare room has a children’s play area including small tables and chairs, books, arts and craft material, as found in childcare centres.
